Workplace English Language Needs and their Pedagogical Implications in ESP

This study aimed to determine the language needs of employees in multinational companies. Results revealed that most have taken English courses or ESP training besides their formal education. Among skills, though speaking is often used workplace but them believe they need improve all skills -- speaking, listening, reading and writing resolve issues. For encounter problems like inability speak with correct grammar structure; lack confidence when speaking; pronounce accurately. The listening include unfamiliarity accents pronunciation; understand slang, idiomatic expressions colloquialisms; comprehend entire information. top are due grammatical weakness; words, technical terms, slangs, expressions; inadequacy vocabulary reading. writing, use errors spelling, punctuation, other technicalities; difficulty write messages according intention. perceived effects limited proficiency are: it limits employees’ growth potential workplace; causes communication difficulties amongst staff; negatively impacts worker safety.
